Moulin De Duhart 2021 is the second wine of Château Duhart-Milon in Pauillac, part of Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite. Its name refers to a former mill on the plateau des Carruades, next to the Duhart-Milon vineyard. That gives the wine a clear sense of place: it comes from the same estate setting as the grand vin, but is selected in a style that is more approachable earlier on.The 2021 blend is 64% Merlot and 36% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from the vineyards of Château Duhart-Milon, on the coteau de Milon adjoining the plateau des Carruades de Lafite. Moulin de Duhart is generally selected from younger vines than the grand vin, while still following a classic Médoc approach: controlled fermentation, gentle extraction and 12 months of ageing in barriques.
The 2021 vintage was less sunny than some preceding years, and that puts freshness and vineyard differences more clearly in view. In the glass, the wine is described through red and dark fruit, polished structure and oak that feels integrated rather than dominant.
