Michele Chiarlo Barolo DOCG Cerequio 2019 in double magnum is a Piemonte red wine with a very clear sense of place. Cerequio lies between La Morra and Barolo, and Michele Chiarlo's parcel sits at around 320 metres altitude, facing south-southwest, on calcareous clay marl soils of marine sedimentary origin.Made from 100% nebbiolo, the wine comes from hand-harvested grapes. The producer describes 2019 as a classic vintage, with lower yields and strong quality. Winter and early spring rain and snow built up water reserves, while the later season brought favourable day-night temperature differences that supported gradual ripening.
The cellar work follows a patient route: fermentation and maceration for 20 days in oak vats, malolactic fermentation in vat, and a minimum total maturation of three years, including two years in medium-sized oak casks. It is a Barolo shaped around structure, fine tannins and further bottle development. The wine is also made within a V.I.V.A. Sustainable Wine certified production approach.

The vineyards of Michele Chiarlo are mainly located in the most famous Piemontese zones, including Barolo and Barbaresco for the red wines from the Nebbiolo grape, but also in regions such as Asti for Barbera and Moscato, among others.
