Product info about Lagrave Martillac White 2022
Lagrave Martillac White 2022 is a white Bordeaux from Pessac-Léognan, produced by Château Latour-Martillac / Vignobles Jean Kressmann in Martillac. It is the château's second white wine, a cuvée that has held that position since 1990.The 2022 vintage is made from an equal blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. That combination gives the wine its tension: fresh citrus-driven energy on one side, a rounder and softer impression on the other. The grapes come from clay-limestone soils on the estate's eastern slope, where the white vineyard covers 9 hectares within a total estate area of 55 hectares. The vines average 30 years of age, and the estate works traditionally and sustainably, with Haute Valeur Environnementale certification.
It was an early, warm vintage. The white harvest began on 18 August, with grapes picked by hand, parcel by parcel, in small crates. Fermentation took place in oak barrels, followed by 7 months on the lees in French oak barriques, 20% of them new. That ageing gives the wine shape and texture while keeping the freshness at the centre.
