Maison Charlopin Tissier Marsannay 2021 White shows a particularly engaging side of the Côte de Nuits: white Marsannay made entirely from Chardonnay. The fruit comes from the Les Etales lieu-dit, where clay and limestone soils help frame the wine's fresh, mineral structure.Charlopin-Tissier is associated with Yann Charlopin and Justine Tissier, based in Morey-Saint-Denis and closely linked to Marsannay. Founded in 2013, the domaine is described as a small-scale Burgundy producer working vineyards in places such as Marsannay, Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Vosne-Romanée and Pernand-Vergelesses.
The cellar work is precise: strict grape selection, full destemming, a short cold maceration and low-temperature fermentation with native yeasts. The wine then matures for 12 to 18 months in 350-litre oak barrels, 30% of them new. That ageing brings texture and subtle notes of cream and brioche, while the wine keeps its line of apple, lemon and flinty minerality.
