Château Durfort-Vivens 2020 is a red Margaux with real Bordeaux pedigree. It is the grand vin of a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, drawn from vineyards in the Margaux appellation, including parcels in Margaux, Cantenac and Soussans. Deep gravel soils with sand and clay provide the setting for a wine led by cabernet sauvignon, supported by merlot.The estate is certified organic and biodynamic, and the 2020 vintage reflects a very parcel-focused way of working. Lots were vinified separately with native yeasts and gentle extraction, using one daily pump-over. Maturation lasted 18 months in a combination of 70% new oak barrels and 30% TAVA terracotta amphorae, bringing together structure from the oak and preservation of aroma and texture from the terracotta.
The 2020 vintage in Margaux produced a wine of concentration, firm tannic presence and notable freshness.
