Château Haut-Bailly 2020 Demi is the estate's grand vin in half-bottle format, 37.5 cl. That distinction matters: Demi refers to the size, not to a separate cuvée. This is the red wine from Château Haut-Bailly in Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, from an estate listed among the Crus Classés de Graves.The 2020 vintage came from a sharply contrasting growing season. A very wet spring, with frost and mildew pressure, was followed by a warmer than usual and exceptionally dry summer. Rain in August brought relief and helped complete ripening. The château described the grapes as ripe, fruit-driven, sugar-rich and concentrated. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot, with small portions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Fifteen months in barriques, half of them new, place this wine firmly in the serious Bordeaux tradition: structured, dense and built with ageing in mind. The available critical notes repeatedly point to a wine of concentration, freshness, fine tannins and patience.

Château Haut-Bailly is a well-known name from the French Bordeaux region and is located in the heart of Pessac-Lëognan, just south of the city of Bordeaux. The estate has a history dating back to the 16th century and has long been known for producing red wines mainly from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The château owns around 30 hectares of vineyards on a unique sandy gravel soil, which contributes to the distinctive elegance and structure of the wines. Since 1998, Château Haut-Bailly has been owned by the Wilmers family; recently, ownership has passed on to their descendants, with input from an international team. The winery is known for a refined, balanced style, where power and finesse meet, which is typically appreciated by international wine enthusiasts and critics.
