La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion 2020 is the red second wine of Château La Mission Haut-Brion in Pessac-Léognan. It sits just below the grand vin, yet it comes from the same setting: the gravel-rich terraces of Talence and Pessac, opposite Château Haut-Brion, where drainage and heat retention help shape the character of the fruit.The 2020 vintage was an early and demanding one. A mild, wet winter was followed by a very early growing cycle, then by an exceptionally warm, dry period with several heatwaves. The estate worked carefully in the vineyard, including limiting leaf removal to protect the grapes and retain aromatic freshness. The final blend is 55.3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 44.7% Merlot.

The name La Chapelle refers to the chapel of La Mission Haut-Brion, built in 1698 by the Lazarists. It is a fitting detail for a wine rooted not only in a renowned terroir, but also in the long continuity of the estate.
