Château Doisy Daëne Blanc 2020 presents the dry white side of Barsac. The estate is best known for sweet white wines, yet it also produces this Grand Vin Sec from Bordeaux, made entirely from Sauvignon Blanc grown in Barsac.The vines stand on the Haut-Barsac plateau, where clay, limestone and a thin layer of clayey sand help shape the wine's fresh, mineral style. The grapes are hand-harvested in successive passes. Fermentation takes place in barriques, with separate handling by parcel and picking, followed by around twelve months of ageing in barriques on the lees with regular bâtonnage.
That gives the wine more depth than a purely aromatic Sauvignon Blanc. Freshness is clearly part of its identity, but so are texture, discreet oak influence, lees-derived nuance and a saline, chalky line. Château Doisy Daëne is a French winery located in the Barsac appellation in the Bordeaux region. The estate is mainly known for its sweet white wines, produced primarily from Sémillon grapes, complemented by Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the château has been owned by the Dubourdieu family, who have built a strong reputation in both traditional and modern winemaking. The vineyards of Château Doisy Daëne benefit from the unique microclimate of Barsac, which offers ideal conditions for noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) and thus contributes to the character of the sweet dessert wines. In addition to the classic Barsac, the estate also produces dry white Bordeaux wines, which is relatively unusual for this appellation. The wines of Château Doisy Daëne are known for their freshness, aromatic complexity and structure, qualities that are appreciated internationally.
