Château La Tour Carnet 2020 in magnum is a red Bordeaux from the Haut-Médoc, made at the estate in Saint-Laurent-Médoc. The 1.5-litre bottle is not a separate cuvée, but the same wine in a more generous format, bringing extra presence when a classic Bordeaux is opened at the table.La Tour Carnet is part of the 1855 Grand Cru Classé classification and is generally listed as a 4th growth. The 2020 blend is 60% merlot and 40% cabernet sauvignon, giving this Haut-Médoc a notably merlot-led expression for the Left Bank, with cabernet sauvignon providing the structural backbone. The vineyard is planted on Günz gravel over highly calcareous clay, and the estate is certified Haute Valeur Environnementale level 3.
The winemaking is detailed and selective, with sorting in several stages, gravity-fed vatting, fermentation in wooden vats and small concrete tanks, manual pigeage and a maceration lasting 25 to 32 days. The wine then matures for 16 months in barriques, 30% of them new. Château La Tour Carnet is a winery from the Bordeaux region in France that is especially praised for its red wines from the subregion Haut-Médoc. The castle, whose foundations date back to the 12th century, is one of the oldest estates in the region and is distinguished by its imposing medieval tower.
