Product info about Quinta Da Fonte Souto Rose 2022
Quinta da Fonte Souto Rosé 2022 shows a fresher side of the Alentejo. Rather than coming from the warmer plains, it comes from the slopes of Portalegre in the Alto Alentejo, close to the Parque Natural da Serra de São Mamede. The vineyards sit at around 490 to 550 metres above sea level, where the cooler and more humid conditions play an important role in the wine's style.This rosé belongs to Symington Family Estates' Quinta da Fonte Souto project, their first wine estate outside the Douro. It is made entirely from Aragonez, sourced from a small experimental planting on the estate's hillside vineyards. The grapes were picked early to preserve natural acidity, then handled with precision in the cellar: hand selection, gentle pressing and low-temperature fermentation in stainless steel to keep the aromatic expression clear.
A small part of the blend spent four months in third-year wooden casks, but the wine remains focused on freshness, dryness and definition rather than oak impact. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of rosé we like to present because it says something specific about its origin: a high-altitude Alentejo wine with a distinctly fresh, aromatic voice.
