Product info about Chateau La Pointe 2020
Chateau La Pointe 2020 is the grand vin of Château La Pointe, a dry red wine from Pomerol in Bordeaux. The 2020 blend is built around 76% merlot and 24% cabernet franc, bringing together ripeness, volume and the freshness that was specifically noted for this vintage at the estate.The estate covers around 23 hectares in Pomerol, with vineyard parcels spread across gravel and pebble soils, clay-gravel sections and sandier areas over clay or gravel. That parcel-by-parcel approach is central to the wine. In 2020, extraction was kept gentle, with the aim of preserving balance, fine tannins and lift.
The growing season was marked by a wet winter and spring, followed by a hot, dry summer. Water reserves in the soil helped the vines through the drought, while September rain supported the final phase of ripening. Harvest began early, on 9 September, and finished with the cabernet franc on 23 September.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a Pomerol for drinkers who appreciate ripe dark fruit, structure and the capacity to develop further in bottle. Ageing in French oak, including 50% new barrels, adds depth without taking attention away from the fruit, soil and vintage. With only the last bottles remaining, it is becoming a scarcer release in our selection.

About CH LA POINTE
Château La Pointe is a wine estate located in the Bordeaux region of France, more specifically within the renowned appellation of Pomerol. The estate has a long history dating back to the 19th century and is especially known for its red wines, which are made from a blend in which Merlot and Cabernet Franc play a leading role. With a vineyard surface area of over 20 hectares, Château La Pointe is one of the larger producers within the relatively small Pomerol appellation. The vines have, on average, a respectable age and grow on the characteristic gravel and clay soils that are typical for this area of Bordeaux. In the vinification process, much attention is paid to preserving the expression of the terroir, resulting in characterful wines with an elegant style and a good balance between fruit, structure, and refinement. Château La Pointe has had various owners over the years, during which investments in the vineyard and cellar have visibly raised the level of quality. Production is focused almost entirely on red wine, which is common in the Pomerol region.
