Château Clément-Pichon 2020 in magnum is a red Haut-Médoc from Bordeaux with a clear sense of place. The château is located in Parempuyre, in the southern part of the Haut-Médoc, and belongs to Vignobles Famille Fayat. Since the 2018 vintage, Château Clément-Pichon has been listed as Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, a fitting marker for the polished, well-defined style of the wine.The 2020 blend is led by Merlot, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. That gives this Médoc a ripe and rounded centre, while retaining the structure one expects from the appellation. The vineyard soils are described as sand and dry gravel, with clay in places beneath the surface, and the estate works according to viticulture raisonnée with HVE 3 certification.
After vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, the wine matured for 12 months, partly in barriques and partly in stainless steel. The result is a Bordeaux where the fruit remains present, while the oak ageing adds depth and gentle framing. Château Clëment Pichon is a winery from the Haut-Mëdoc region, north of Bordeaux in France. The estate has a history dating back to the 17th century, although the current castle in neo-Renaissance style dates from the 19th century. The vineyards of Château Clëment Pichon are located on the left bank of the Gironde river and benefit from the characteristic, gravel-rich soil typical of the Haut-Mëdoc. The estate covers an area of approximately 25 hectares, mainly cultivating classic Bordeaux grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The wine style is usually characterized by a fine balance between fruit, power and freshness, with Merlot often playing an important role in the blends. Château Clëment Pichon is classified as Cru Bourgeois, a label for high-quality wines from the Médoc outside the famous 1855 classification. By combining modern techniques with tradition, the estate aims to produce wines with an expressive character that reflect the terroir of the Haut-Mëdoc.
