Product info about Blason D'issan 2020
Blason d'Issan 2020 is the second wine of Château d'Issan from Margaux in Bordeaux. It is made to be more approachable than the estate's grand vin, while still carrying the identity of the same appellation: selected fruit, parcel-by-parcel work and a classic red Bordeaux frame.The 2020 blend brings together 57% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot. That small share of Petit Verdot is worth noting, as 2020 was the first vintage in which it became part of Blason d'Issan, coming from parcels added to the estate through Pontac-Lynch. It gives this release a specific place in the recent story of the wine.
The grapes were hand-harvested and vinified by parcel in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Maturation took place in barriques, around one third of them new, adding a clear but measured oak influence. The wine remains driven by ripe red and black fruit, supported by spice, structure and the fine tannic shape expected from this style.

About CH D'ISSAN
Ch D'Issan is a historic winery from the famous Bordeaux region in France and is part of the Margaux appellation. The chateau is especially known for its red wines, which are usually composed of classic Bordeaux grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The history of the estate dates back to the 12th century, but Ch D'Issan gained its current reputation mainly from the 19th century onwards, partly due to its classification as Troisième Cru, or third growth status, in the famous Bordeaux classification of 1855. The vineyards are situated on gravelly soils near the river Gironde, which contributes to the characteristic style of the wines: elegant, balanced and with fine ageing potential. The production is traditional with great attention to terroir and selection of the grapes. In addition to the Grand Vin, a second wine is also produced, often more accessible at a younger age. Ch D'Issan is widely praised for its refined aromas, a harmonious structure and its ability to age beautifully in the cellar. The chateau itself is a remarkable monument, surrounded by moats, which adds to the unique appearance of this Margaux estate.
