Château Doisy Daëne 2020 Barsac in magnum is a sweet white Bordeaux from Barsac, produced by an estate listed as a Deuxième Cru Classé in the 1855 classification for Sauternes and Barsac. For the 2020 vintage, the wine was made entirely from Sémillon grown on the Haut-Barsac terroir, a clay-limestone plateau.Its appeal lies in the way concentration is held in check by freshness. The grapes are hand-harvested through successive selective pickings, with each picking and parcel fermented separately. Fermentation takes place in barriques, followed by an average ageing period of around twelve months, also in barriques. The result is a noble sweet Barsac shaped by botrytis, extract, acidity and careful oak maturation rather than sweetness alone.
The 1.5-litre magnum format gives this 2020 real table presence, especially for occasions where the bottle is meant to be shared. It has a natural place alongside foie gras, poultry in a creamy sauce, Roquefort, yellow-fruit tarts or spiced desserts. Château Doisy Daëne is a French winery located in the Barsac appellation in the Bordeaux region. The estate is mainly known for its sweet white wines, produced primarily from Sémillon grapes, complemented by Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the château has been owned by the Dubourdieu family, who have built a strong reputation in both traditional and modern winemaking. The vineyards of Château Doisy Daëne benefit from the unique microclimate of Barsac, which offers ideal conditions for noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) and thus contributes to the character of the sweet dessert wines. In addition to the classic Barsac, the estate also produces dry white Bordeaux wines, which is relatively unusual for this appellation. The wines of Château Doisy Daëne are known for their freshness, aromatic complexity and structure, qualities that are appreciated internationally.
