Tenute del Cabreo Il Borgo 2010 is a red Toscana IGT from Greve in Chianti, produced by Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute. It is positioned as a Super Tuscan, yet its name remains closely tied to its place: Il Borgo refers to Montefioralle, the historic village overlooking the Tenute del Cabreo vineyards.For the 2010 vintage, the blend is 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from hillside vineyards at around 300 metres above sea level, on stony, marl-rich soils above Greve in Chianti. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 16 months in French oak and further bottle ageing before release.
The growing season was demanding. A cold, wet winter and rainy early spring slowed the vines, while true summer conditions arrived late. Warm September weather then played an important role in ripening later varieties such as Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. That background gives the 2010 vintage a particular appeal: the wine feels shaped by gradual ripening rather than easy abundance.
