Flavour notes

The aroma is deep and layered, moving through black raspberry, black cherry, blackcurrant, redcurrant, plum and blackberry. Floral notes of violet, wild lavender and rose sit alongside mint, sage, thyme, bay leaf, graphite, pencil shavings, wet earth, cedar and tobacco.

On the palate it is full-bodied, dry and concentrated, with ripe dark fruit supported by lively acidity and fine, powdery tannins. The finish is long and firmly structured, bringing cocoa, espresso, dark chocolate, clove, cedar and graphite into the aftertaste.

Product info about Beaulieu Vineyard Bv Georges De Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Beaulieu Vineyard Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is a serious Napa Valley red with a strong sense of place. It is the flagship cuvée of Beaulieu Vineyard, built around Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford, with a small but important share of Petit Verdot adding aromatic depth and presence.

The fruit comes from the historic BV Ranches No. 1 and No. 2, vineyards closely tied to Georges de Latour himself. That Rutherford origin matters here: the wine has power and density, yet the tannins are described as fine, powdery and polished rather than heavy-handed. The 2019 growing season allowed gradual ripening, bringing full flavour development while retaining freshness and structure.

In the cellar, part of the must was fermented in new French oak, while stainless steel and concrete helped preserve fruit clarity. The wine then spent 20 months in French oak, mostly new, giving its dark-fruited core a frame of cedar, cocoa, espresso, caramel and subtle spice.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we would place firmly in the realm of grand table wines: beef, steak, lamb, game, duck, mushroom-based dishes, brown sauces and mature cheeses all make sense beside it. The 2019 vintage received striking critical recognition, including 100 points from James Suckling and Wine of the Year 2022. With only the last bottles remaining, it is a noteworthy choice for anyone looking for a structured Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon with real ageing potential.

About BEAULIEU VINEYARD

Beaulieu Vineyard is a well-known name in the Californian wine world, with roots going back to the end of the 19th century. The winery is located in the heart of Napa Valley, a region that is recognized worldwide for its quality wines. The founding of Beaulieu Vineyard, often abbreviated as BV, took place in 1900 when Georges de Latour, together with his wife Fernande, established the estate. Since then, the brand has developed a strong reputation, partly thanks to attracting influential winemakers such as Andre Tchelistcheff, a key figure for modern Napa Valley viticulture. Beaulieu Vineyard is known for its classic Californian style, with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon, especially from the Rutherford Appellation, an area that is often associated with the distinctive character of the so-called Rutherford Dust terroir. BV's assortment ranges from accessible wines to highly-rated single vineyard releases, with tradition and innovation going hand in hand. Over the decades, the brand has changed owners multiple times, but the focus on quality and maintaining historic vineyards remains central to the business operations. Beaulieu Vineyard combines rich history with constant development, making it a mainstay within the Californian wine landscape.
