Product info about Chateau Clos Rene 2019 Demi (37,5cl)
Château Clos René 2019 is a red Pomerol from Bordeaux, offered here in a 37.5 cl half bottle. That smaller format is useful when you want to enjoy a serious Pomerol without opening a full bottle. At Drankenshop Broekmans, it stands out even more because these are the last bottles of this vintage.Clos René is a family estate led by Jean-Marie Garde and was historically also known as Reney. The vineyard lies on the western slope of the Pomerol plateau, with sand and gravel soils over iron-rich deposits. The 2019 blend brings together merlot, cabernet franc and malbec; the malbec component is a distinctive detail in this Pomerol.
The wine is made in a traditional manner, with fermentation in temperature-controlled cement vats and 18 months of ageing in oak barrels, around 30% of them new. It brings together ripe fruit, structure and savoury, earthy depth. Open it about an hour before serving and pour at around 17 to 18 °C. It is very much at home with herb-crusted rack of lamb, grilled entrecôte or duck breast with pepper.

About CH CLOS RENE
Clos Rene is a French wine producer located in the Bordeaux region, specifically in the Pomerol wine area on the right bank of the Dordogne. The vineyard of Clos Rene has a long wine tradition that dates back to the end of the 19th century. The name Clos Rene refers to a so-called 'clos', a walled vineyard, which used to be a mark of quality winegrowing in this area. The vineyards cover about 15 hectares and are planted with grape varieties typical for Pomerol, such as merlot, cabernet franc and a small percentage of malbec. Clos Rene wines are usually known for their accessible style, with fruity notes and a soft structure, which means they can be ready to drink relatively young, but also have the potential to age. The Garde family and Jean-Marie Garde have long been involved in managing the estate, and production partly adheres to traditional methods of vinification and maturation in oak. The location on clay and gravel soils contributes to the character of the wine, which is often appreciated for its balance between power and finesse within the Pomerol appellation.
