Di Sipio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva 5 2009 is a red wine with a very particular story behind it. It comes from Ripa Teatina in the province of Chieti, within the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC/DOP appellation. For this vintage, the grapes are described as coming from an approximately fifty-year-old vineyard where the vines grow among olive trees, following a traditional local planting system.The remarkable part is the time this wine spends in contact with its skins. For the 2009 vintage, the vinification is described as five years of maceration in a wooden vat of around 30 hectolitres. The name 5 refers to the time needed to make the wine. It is also a cuvée produced only in selected years; up to the release of the 2017 vintage, only 2007, 2009 and 2017 had appeared.
