Product info about Michele Chiarlo Langhe Nebbiolo 2020
Michele Chiarlo Langhe Nebbiolo 2020 is the Il Principe Langhe Nebbiolo DOC from Piedmont, made entirely from Nebbiolo. Its fruit comes from vineyards in Barbaresco and Vezza d'Alba, on the slopes of the Roero area, bringing together different soils and sites within one clearly defined Langhe expression.The grapes are hand harvested, with summer cluster thinning used to reduce excess fruit before picking. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, with ten days of skin contact, followed by malolactic fermentation in steel. The wine then matures for at least twelve months across steel, wood and bottle, with the 2020 information also referring to ageing in large casks after fermentation.
The 2020 vintage was marked by clear late-summer days and notable day-night temperature shifts, conditions that Michele Chiarlo links with good phenolic development and preserved acidity. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Nebbiolo we like to introduce when someone wants Piedmont character with polish and clarity. Serve it at 17-18 °C with pasta ragù, turkey or medium-aged cheeses.

Michele Chiarlo is an Italian wine producer from Piemonte, founded in 1956 by Michele Chiarlo himself. The family company has been active since the beginning in one of the most highly regarded wine regions of Northern Italy, and has strongly focused on producing wines that reflect the character of the region. The vineyards of Michele Chiarlo are mainly located in the most famous Piemontese zones, including Barolo and Barbaresco for the red wines from the Nebbiolo grape, but also in regions such as Asti for Barbera and Moscato, among others. Quality and terroir are central in the winery's approach; a lot of attention is paid to sustainable viticultural practices and a careful selection of grapes. The assortment of Michele Chiarlo ranges from fresh, floral white wines to structured, complex red wines that are typical for Piemonte.
