Product info about Chateau Durfort Vivens 2019 Magnum (1,5l)
Château Durfort Vivens 2019 Magnum brings Margaux to the table with real presence. This is the estate's grand vin, from a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé of the 1855 classification, with vineyards in Margaux, Cantenac and Soussans. The 1.5 litre magnum is not a separate cuvée, but it does give the 2019 vintage a more ceremonial feel.Cabernet Sauvignon leads the wine clearly: the blend is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. That explains the focus on freshness, tension, dark fruit and firm but refined structure. Château Durfort-Vivens works biodynamically, with the estate linking this approach to its Demeter certification in 2016, and the 2019 vintage is described as coming from biodynamically grown grapes.
The winemaking was carried out parcel by parcel, using natural yeasts and gentle extraction with one pump-over per day. Ageing lasted 18 months, with two thirds in new French oak barriques and one third in TAVA terracotta amphorae. It is a thoughtful combination for a wine that carries concentration while keeping a fresh, precise line.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Bordeaux magnum we would place in the conversation when someone is looking for a bottle with time, structure and occasion built into it. The estate recommends serving at 16 to 18°C with 1 to 2 hours of decanting. Drinking is advised from 2025, with a stated peak around 2030 and long ageing potential. With only the last bottles remaining, it is a Margaux to choose deliberately.

Chateau Durfort-Vivens is a French winery located in the Margaux appellation, in the Bordeaux region. The domaine has a long history that dates back to the 17th century and received its current name after being acquired by the Vivens family in the 19th century. Today, Chateau Durfort-Vivens is owned by Gonzague Lurton, who has continued the winery in the Bordeaux tradition with an emphasis on respect for the terroir.
