Domaine Charlopin Tissier Gevrey Chambertin 2019 is a red Burgundy from the Côte de Nuits, made entirely from pinot noir. It comes from the village appellation Gevrey-Chambertin AOC and has the more serious side of that origin: dry, structured and built around depth rather than simple upfront fruit.The most compelling part of this wine is its source. The fruit comes from old vines in Les Marchais, a very small estate-owned parcel in Gevrey-Chambertin. The technical information refers to vines of around 81 years old, red clay-limestone soils with iron-rich components, and a position next to Clos Saint-Jacques. Within the selection at Drankenshop Broekmans, that gives the wine a strong sense of place: officially a village wine, but from a clearly defined and characterful site.
Yann Charlopin and Justine Tissier vinify this cuvée with full destemming, native yeasts and fermentation in stainless steel, kept at low temperature and without heavy extraction. The wine then spends 18 months in barrel, with a significant proportion of new oak. That combination keeps the ripe dark fruit at the centre, while adding texture, substance and firm structure.
For food pairing, it has the weight and shape to sit well alongside beef, veal, poultry or game.

Domaine Charlopin Tissier comes from Burgundy, one of France's most highly regarded wine regions. This relatively young estate was founded in 2013 and is run by brothers Yann and Justine Charlopin, who come from a family with deep-rooted wine traditions. Although the estate does not yet belong to the absolute greats of Burgundy, it has managed to attract attention in a short period of time with its approach to winemaking: respect for the terroir, minimal intervention in the cellar, and a strong focus on the expression of grape varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Charlopin Tissier owns vineyards around, among others, Morey-Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin, resulting in a range of typical Burgundy wines that vary from fresh, mineral-driven white wines to elegant and refined red wines. The working method is largely traditional, with manual harvesting and careful selection being standard practice. Despite its short history, Domaine Charlopin Tissier has become a name that is followed with curiosity by enthusiasts of modern Burgundy with a classic approach.
