Aromatically it moves straight into dark territory: cassis, blackcurrant, dark berries, blue fruit and dark cherry, followed by licorice, violets, dried roses, lavender and rosemary. Peppery spice, smoke, graphite, crushed stone, mocha, chocolate, leather and young oak spice add further depth.On the palate it is full-bodied, rich and concentrated, yet clearly structured. The tannins build with presence and have been described as chewy, creamy and fine-grained, with a polished, silky texture. L'Aventure Cuvee Estate 2019 is a powerful red wine from Paso Robles, made from estate-grown fruit from L'Aventure Vineyard on the western side of the region. In this vintage, the wine sat at the top of the estate's range; later vintages were renamed Estate Reserve by the producer.Its personality comes from a blend of 50% Syrah, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot. Stephan Asseo, a French winemaker with a Bordeaux background who began his Paso Robles project in 1998, uses that freedom to bring Syrah together with Bordeaux varieties outside the traditional French appellation system. Low yields and 15 months in French oak give the wine its depth, density and firm sense of structure.
The estate describes 2019 as a classic vintage, marked by clear tannins, balance, varietal expression and pure fruit. About L'AVENTURE
L'Aventure is a wine brand from the United States with roots in the Paso Robles region, Californiâ. The estate was founded in 1998 by the French winemaker Stephan Asseo, who, after years of experience in Bordeaux, decided to realize his own vision of winemaking in Californiâ. The vineyards are located in the western part of Paso Robles, an area known for its calcareous soils and distinctive Mediterranean climate. L'Aventure is especially known for its blends of Bordeaux and Rhône grape varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Petit Verdot. By combining traditional French techniques with the possibilities of Californian terroir, the winery is able to produce powerful and concentrated wines that are often characterized by depth and structure. The approach focuses on a low yield per hectare and a careful selection of grapes.
