Product info about L'aventure Optimus 2019
L'Aventure Optimus 2019 is a red estate blend from Paso Robles, California, built around Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. That combination says a great deal about the estate's style: Rhône and Bordeaux varieties brought together in a Californian setting, shaped by winemaker and owner Stephan Asseo, who worked in Bordeaux before founding L'Aventure in Paso Robles in 1998.The fruit comes entirely from L'Aventure Vineyard, with low yields, and the wine spent 14 months in French oak, most of it new. Barrel malolactic fermentation and bottling without fining or filtration point to a wine made with structure, texture and vineyard expression in mind rather than a polished, simplified style.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we like to introduce when someone wants a full, serious Paso Robles red with a clear sense of origin. The 2019 vintage has also drawn strong critical attention, including 96 points from James Suckling and 94 points from both Decanter and Jeb Dunnuck.
Its dark fruit, spice and tannic grip make it a natural partner for dishes with depth: beef, lamb chops with rosemary and garlic, duck cassoulet or aged semi-hard cheeses. With the last bottles now available, this vintage is becoming a scarcer snapshot of the L'Aventure Optimus style.

L'Aventure is a wine brand from the United States with roots in the Paso Robles region, Californiâ. The estate was founded in 1998 by the French winemaker Stephan Asseo, who, after years of experience in Bordeaux, decided to realize his own vision of winemaking in Californiâ. The vineyards are located in the western part of Paso Robles, an area known for its calcareous soils and distinctive Mediterranean climate. L'Aventure is especially known for its blends of Bordeaux and Rhône grape varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Petit Verdot. By combining traditional French techniques with the possibilities of Californian terroir, the winery is able to produce powerful and concentrated wines that are often characterized by depth and structure. The approach focuses on a low yield per hectare and a careful selection of grapes. Over the years, L'Aventure has received much attention from both wine enthusiasts and critics and is known as one of the pioneers in Paso Robles in the field of innovative wine styles.
