Flavour notes

Dry, medium to full in body, with a clear centre of blackcurrant, blackberry, black plum and dark cherry. Some notes also point to a kirsch-like nuance, followed by graphite, pencil shavings, tobacco, cedar and bay leaf.

The oak ageing shows through vanilla, smoke, toasted wood, cocoa and chocolate tones. The tannins are ripe yet firmly present, ranging from polished to more solid and grainy, with fresh acidity keeping the wine defined. The finish stays savoury and dark, marked again by that graphite-like edge.

Product info about Chateau La Tour Carnet 2019

Château La Tour Carnet 2019 is the red grand vin of the estate in Saint-Laurent-Médoc, within the Haut-Médoc appellation. As a Quatrième Cru Classé from the 1855 Médoc classification, it carries a distinctly Bordeaux message: dark fruit, firm structure and a savoury, graphite-edged depth rather than simple fruitiness.

The 2019 vintage is a 50/50 blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. That balance matters here. The wine is described with ripe black fruit and a rounded fruit texture, yet the Cabernet side brings freshness, grip and a more serious frame. The warm, dry 2019 summer, followed by useful rain near the end of September, fits the profile of a vintage where ripeness and structure meet.

The winemaking was handled with considerable precision: selection in the vineyard, hand sorting, density sorting, gravity-fed transfer into small cement and wooden vats, cold pre-fermentation maceration and a 16-month ageing period in barriques, 30% of them new. Those details help explain the wine's darker, more savoury register, with references to cedar, tobacco, smoke, spice, roasted notes and cocoa around the core of fruit.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Haut-Médoc we present to customers looking for a classified Bordeaux with vintage character and real ageing potential. Available drinking windows generally begin after a few years in bottle and extend well into the 2030s, with some estimates going further. It sits naturally alongside grilled meat, sauced dishes, cheese and mushroom-based preparations. These are the last bottles available.

Dry, medium to full in body, with a clear centre of blackcurrant, blackberry, black plum and dark cherry. Some notes also point to a kirsch-like nuance, followed by graphite, pencil shavings, tobacco, cedar and bay leaf.

About CH LA TOUR CARNET

Château La Tour Carnet is a winery from the Bordeaux region in France that is especially praised for its red wines from the subregion Haut-Médoc. The castle, whose foundations date back to the 12th century, is one of the oldest estates in the region and is distinguished by its imposing medieval tower. Château La Tour Carnet has held the status of Quatrième Grand Cru Classé (fourth growth) since the historic Bordeaux wine classification of 1855, which is a recognized quality label within the French wine world. Today, the estate, which belongs to the group of wine entrepreneur Bernard Magrez, is about 126 hectares in size and most of the vineyards are planted with the grape varieties Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. La Tour Carnet is known for its full-bodied, concentrated wines with ripe red fruit and refined oak notes, which usually gain even more complexity after several years of aging. In addition to the well-known Grand Vin, the house also produces a second wine, often attractive to enthusiasts who want to discover the style of La Tour Carnet at a more accessible price. In the modern winery, both traditional and innovative techniques are used to optimally express the quality and character of each vintage.
