Blason d'Issan 2019 is the second wine of Château d'Issan in Margaux. The estate's grand vin is classified as a Troisième Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, while Blason d'Issan was introduced in 1995 as a selection from younger vines and selected parcels within the Margaux appellation.The 2019 vintage is made from 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. It carries the signature of a warm year, yet the château also points to warm days and cool nights during ripening, giving the wine ripe aromatics with freshness and tannic structure. The gravel surface soils with deeper clay layers are mentioned by the estate as an important factor during the heat periods of June and July.
In the cellar, each parcel was vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with gentle extraction to keep the fruit expression intact. Ageing took place for 14 to 16 months in barriques, with 35% new oak for this vintage. About CH D'ISSAN
Ch D'Issan is a historic winery from the famous Bordeaux region in France and is part of the Margaux appellation. The chateau is especially known for its red wines, which are usually composed of classic Bordeaux grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The history of the estate dates back to the 12th century, but Ch D'Issan gained its current reputation mainly from the 19th century onwards, partly due to its classification as Troisième Cru, or third growth status, in the famous Bordeaux classification of 1855. The vineyards are situated on gravelly soils near the river Gironde, which contributes to the characteristic style of the wines: elegant, balanced and with fine ageing potential.
