About BELGIAN OWL
In de jaren 90, voedde een kleine gerstekorrel al de dromen van Etienne Bouillon. Ontmoeting na ontmoeting werden Christian Polis en Pierre Roberti steeds meer enthousiast, en ze stapten mee in de droom van Etienne. Deze gepassioneerde distillateur en grote gangmaker van het project, heeft het eerste vat van de toekomstige Belgische Single Malt Whisky, The Belgian Owl, gevuld op 29 oktober 2004.
De eerste verkopen vonden al plaats in december 2004, door middel van een on-line verkoop die gesteund werd door de Belgische schrijvende pers door middel van een paginagrote advertentie. De geboorte van deze eerste Belgische Single Malt Whisky, die ook gestookt werd op basis van gerst die in Begië geteeld werd, heeft bij de Belgische bevolking iets losgeweekt. De eerste 804 flessen van The Belgian Owl werden heel snel gekocht door gepassioneerden die mee wilden stappen in dit avontuur.
Al in 2004 onderstreepte Jim Murray in zijn Whisky Bible de kwaliteit van de spirit die Etienne voortbracht. In november 2007, werden de eerste flessen die officieel de naam whisky mochten dragen, overhandigd aan hun gelukkige eigenaars. De eerste regular bottling kwam er in november 2008. Er was een gelimiteerde editie cask strength in 2009, en meerdere versies van 3 en 4 jaar op 46 % volgden in 2013-2014, evenals versies op vatsterkte.
The Belgian Owl werd recent gemoderniseerd, uitgebreid, en verhuisd op de Voroux-Goreux hoeve. Een bezoek aan de distilleerderij samen met Etienne en Katia vervoegt steeds interesse, bewondering, en plezier van een gedeelde passie.

Will my product be properly packaged?
All our orders are packed with the utmost care in sturdy cardboard shipping boxes, and filled with environmentally friendly crumpled cardboard to prevent damage to the bottle and packaging. We try to avoid the use of bubble wrap and other plastic as much as possible.
However, certain boxes and tubes are extremely sensitive to any form of packaging, and a package also goes through a lot before it is delivered to your front door. We offer you the assurance of completely flawless packaging in our shop in Zolder.
Can I ask questions about the product specifications?
Our team strives to supplement photos and product specifications with the utmost care and to keep them up-to-date. Unfortunately, this is not always possible, especially for products with a high rotation, products with multiple versions/packaging and products that are released several times under the same name/denominator/barcode, each time with a different lot number or different bottling date. Because the basic product is the same in such cases, we do not make a distinction in our webshop and we deliver what is in stock at that time.
If you are looking for a very specific release of a product, e.g. to supplement your collection, it is best to contact our customer service in advance so that we can physically check this for you before you place your order . This way we prevent disappointment and unnecessary sending of bottles back and forth.
If the product you received does not match the product information that we communicated in advance, you can choose to return this bottle to us and obtain a return label from our customer service.
Why can I only enter a certain number?
In our webshop you can never order more than the quantity that we can immediately deliver from our stock at that time. For larger quantities, please contact our customer service. In addition, exceptionally popular releases can also be limited in number per customer account.
Can I pick up my online order in your shop?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to collect your online order from our shop. This is because the physical processing of online orders does not take place in our shop in Zolder.
In which countries can I have my order delivered?
Because of national excise legislation, each target market in which we operate has a separate webshop environment. You can order on all these environments with one customer account. Prices, delivery costs and ordering conditions differ per target market.
