About YENI
Yeni is one of the most well-known raki brands from Turkey and has contributed to the great popularity of this traditional Turkish aniseed drink since its introduction in 1944. The brand is produced by Mey Diageo, one of the largest beverage producers in Turkey. Yeni literally means "new" in Turkish, with which the raki was then presented as a modern development in the raki industry. For production, mainly grape alcohol is used, after which the base is enriched with aniseed and distilled twice, according to the classic method characteristic of raki. Yeni Raki is recognizable by its clear character; when water is added, the typical milky effect arises, which is known in Turkey as "aslan sütü" (lion's milk). The brand has developed a wide range, with, in addition to the original variant, also special editions such as Yeni Raki Ala. Yeni raki is usually drunk pure with water and ice, and occupies a central place at Turkish social and culinary occasions.
