Dow's 1985 Cellar Release is a Vintage Port shaped by origin, patience and careful cellar work. It comes from the iconic Quinta do Bomfim in the Cima Corgo and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira in the Douro Superior, bringing together two important vineyard sources for a very classical expression of Dow's.Made from old vines grown on schist slopes, the wine was bottled after two years of cask ageing. Its real story continued in the family cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, where the bottles rested for more than forty years. For this Cellar Release, each bottle was carefully recorked to help safeguard the quality of the wine.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as the kind of port that invites a slower conversation: a mature 1985 Vintage Port with structure, provenance and the quiet authority of long cellar ageing behind it.
Only 800 numbered bottles were released, so availability is naturally very limited. It is a bottle that brings together Dow's classic style, the craft of the Symington family and the depth that time can give to Vintage Port.

The hallmark of DOW port's is the dry finish of all their wines. The origin story of DOW is the opposite of many other port brands. Bruno da Silva, a Portuguese merchant, moved to London and from there started importing Portuguese wines.
