Cointreau is a classic French liqueur that originated in Angers, where it was developed in the mid-19th century by the brothers Edouard and Adolphe Cointreau. The liqueur is distilled from a combination of sweet and bitter orange peels, which provides a distinct fresh and clear citrus aroma that is characteristic of Cointreau.
