Dom Benedictine is a historic French liqueur with roots in the 19th century. It was first crééted in 1863 in the abbey of Fecamp in Normandié by Alexandre Le Grand, a wine merchant who drew inspiration from old manuscripts to create a unique herbal liqueur. The name refers to the Benedictine monks, although the recipe is not an age-old monastic tradition but rather a clever invention from the 19th century. The liqueur is made from a blend of 27 carefully selected plants and spices, the precise composition of which remains a closely guarded secret. Dom Benedictine distinguishes itself by its characteristic flavor, in which spiciness, hints of citrus, honey, and a soft, warm finish come together. Production still takes place in Fecamp, where the original distillery is also open to visitors.
