Asbach is a German brand best known for its brandy, officially often referred to as Weinbrand. The brand was founded in 1892, with its origin in Rüdesheim am Rhein, a town in the renowned wine region of Germany. For the production of Asbach, carefully selected grape wines are used, which is typical for the traditional German Weinbrand style. The distillation and aging take place according to regulations prescribed by German law for Weinbrand, whereby the distillate matures for at least six months in wooden barrels, although older variants are kept longer for a more complex taste and character. Asbach releases various expressions, including younger variants and special reserve editions, each appealing to its own audience. The taste of classic Asbach brandy is generally described as smooth and accessible, with subtle notes of vanilla, grape and a hint of oak.
