Farina Campus Gothorum 2018

Farina Campus Gothorum 2018 is a Spanish red wine from D.O. Toro, produced by Bodegas Fariña in the province of Zamora. Within the estate's range, Campus Gothorum sits among the more serious cuvées, made in limited production with a clear focus on terroir, old vines and the identity of Tinta de Toro.
The fruit comes from six vineyards with ungrafted, own-rooted vines that the producer describes as roughly 50 to 140 years old. These old bush vines grow on alluvial, sandy soils with rounded stones, and the grapes are harvested by hand. That background helps explain the wine's firmly built Toro style: concentrated, structured and marked by depth.
The wine spends 15 months in French and American oak barrels, followed by bottle ageing. Its oak (…)Farina Crianza 2018

Farina Crianza 2018 is a Spanish red wine from the D.O. Toro in the province of Zamora, produced by Bodegas Fariña from 100% Tinta de Toro. This local form of Tempranillo gives the wine its sense of place: ripe, structured and unmistakably rooted in Toro.
The wine is made from destemmed grapes, with a short pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature followed by 10 to 12 days of alcoholic fermentation. Ageing then takes place for 12 months in French oak barrels, followed by at least 2 years in bottle. With the 2018 vintage, that means the wine has moved beyond youthful fruit and into a more developed stage, where maturity, spice and oak influence sit together more calmly.

Farina Gran Colegiata 2016

Farina Gran Colegiata 2016 is a red Reserva from D.O. Toro in Spain, made entirely from Tinta de Toro. The grapes come from old, ungrafted vines over 60 years of age, a detail that says a great deal about the wine before the glass is even poured. This is a Toro wine with a clear sense of origin rather than a generic Spanish red.
The Gran Colegiata name has genuine significance within Bodegas Farina. It refers back to the Colegiata wines through which the estate began commercialising Tinta de Toro in the 1970s. Gran Colegiata Reserva later played an important role in the reputation of the producer and in the wider recognition of Toro wines. The word Original points directly to that heritage.
After manual harvesting, the wine spends 18 months in American oak (…)Farina Gran Colegiata 2016 Magnum (1,5l)

Farina Gran Colegiata 2016 Magnum is a red wine from Toro in Castilla y León, bottled in the generous 1.5-litre magnum format. It comes from Bodegas Fariña, where the Gran Colegiata name carries real meaning: it refers to the historic Colegiata of Toro and to the early wines Fariña made under the Colegiata name in the 1970s.
The wine is made entirely from Tinta de Toro, sourced from old ungrafted vines more than 60 years of age. The grapes were hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel under controlled temperature, and matured for 18 months in American oak barrels. Fariña positions it as a Reserva, with a style that deliberately looks back to the original Gran Colegiata identity.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum sits (…)Farina Lagrima 2019 Magnum (1,5l)

Farina Lagrima 2019 Magnum (1,5l)

Farina Lagrima 2019 Magnum is a red wine from Toro in Spain, bottled in a generous 1.5-litre magnum. It is a tinto roble made from 100% Tinta de Toro, the local Tempranillo variant, with a style built around ripe fruit, structure and a measured touch of oak.
Lagrima refers to the free-run juice, obtained by gravity without mechanical pressing. That detail matters here because it helps explain the fruit-driven nature of the wine. A short maturation in French and American oak adds depth, spice and grip while keeping the wine clearly rooted in its Toro fruit.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Spanish red that speaks well at the table: generous enough for roasted meat, lamb with garlic, beef, tapas, roasted vegetables or mature cheeses, yet still (…)Farina Lagrima 2020

Farina Lagrima 2020 is a red wine from Toro in Spain, made entirely from Tinta de Toro, the local Tempranillo variety of the region. For this vintage, the grapes were harvested by hand, giving the wine a clear link to its origin and to the concentrated style associated with Toro.
The name Lagrima refers to the use of free-run must: juice obtained by gravity, without mechanical pressing. It is made in a tinto roble style, with four months of ageing in French and American oak, enough to add polish and seasoning while keeping the fruit at the centre.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Spanish red we like to introduce when someone wants Toro with structure, but not an overly mature or heavily oaked expression. The 2020 vintage is now down to the last (…)Farina Mascaradas 2019

Farina Mascaradas 2019 is a Spanish red wine from Castilla y León, produced by Bodegas Fariña in Zamora. It is bottled under Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León, with fruit sourced from the area around Toro, Guareña and Tierra del Vino, where Tempranillo is also known locally as Tinta de Toro.
The wine is built around estate-grown fruit from seven vineyard plots with different soils and exposures. Grapes from poor sandy soils are blended with fruit from slopes containing clay and limestone. For the 2019 vintage, the producer refers to vines over thirty years old, adding an extra sense of place to this dry red Tempranillo.
Mascaradas takes its name from winter masquerade and dressing-up traditions linked to the winter solstice in (…)
