Chateau Le Bon Pasteur 2020

Château Le Bon Pasteur 2020 is a Pomerol built around Merlot, with Cabernet Franc adding its own lift and detail. It comes from the estate in Maillet, in Pomerol, where the vineyard parcels lie on gravelly and clay-based soils, with vines averaging around forty years of age.
The 2020 vintage was notably early. After a wet spring that helped build water reserves, the summer turned dry and sunny, with the harvest taking place between 11 and 29 September. The grapes were picked by hand and selected with care before and after destemming, then again by parcel. Le Bon Pasteur also uses an unusual cellar approach here: alcoholic fermentation in new French oak barriques, followed by 12 to 15 months in French oak, 70% of it new. That helps explain the wine's combination of (…)Chateau Le Bon Pasteur 2020 Magnum (1,5l) Incl. Box

Château Le Bon Pasteur 2020 Magnum is a red Pomerol from Bordeaux in a 1.5-litre bottle, a format that immediately gives the wine a sense of occasion and patience. This is the château's grand vin, made in 2020 from 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc. At Drankenshop Broekmans, it is the kind of bottle we would point out to someone looking for Pomerol with ripe dark fruit, structure and a clear capacity to develop further in bottle.
The château describes 2020 as a historically early vintage. A wet autumn and mild, dry winter allowed the vines to build reserves, before a warm, dry season brought ripeness, power and aromatic freshness. The estate farms around 6.5 to 6.7 hectares in Pomerol's Maillet sector, close to the border with Saint-Émilion, with (…)Chateau Le Bon Pasteur 2021

Chateau Le Bon Pasteur 2021

Chateau Le Bon Pasteur 2021 is the grand vin of this Pomerol estate in Bordeaux. The blend for this vintage is 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc, drawn from a 6.5-hectare production vineyard with vines averaging around 40 years of age on gravel-clay soils.
The 2021 vintage was not a particularly warm one. After a mild, wet start and a cooler, often humid summer, five weeks of warm, dry and sunny weather helped bring the fruit to maturity. That vintage pattern is important here: the wine is described more through freshness, aromatic clarity and fine structure than through sheer weight.
The cellar work was precise, with hand harvesting, double sorting before and after destemming, cold maceration and vinification intégrale in new French oak barriques. (…)Chateau Le Bon Pasteur 2021 Magnum (1,5l)

The estate is based in Maillet and works around 6.5 hectares of vineyard on gravel-clay soils near the border between Pomerol and Saint-Émilion. That setting matters here, because the wine brings together Pomerol roundness with a more structured, defined side.
The 2021 blend is 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc, from vines averaging 40 years of age. The season began mild and wet, with challenges in spring and early summer, before the final five weeks before harvest turned warm, dry and sunny. Harvesting was done by hand, followed (…)Chateau Le Bon Pasteur 2022

The 2022 vintage was notably early and shaped by extreme weather conditions. Yet the available vintage notes point to a wine defined by ripeness, phenolic depth, freshness and structure. The grapes were harvested by hand with careful selection, followed by 15 months of maturation in barriques, including a significant proportion of new oak.
