Château Croix Mouton 2020 is a red Bordeaux Supérieur with Merlot very much at the centre of the wine. For this vintage the blend is 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, drawn from vineyards in Lugon on the clay soils of l'Île du Carney, close to the Dordogne and on the edge of Fronsac. The result is a Bordeaux built around ripe, fleshy fruit, while keeping the fresh, approachable side associated with this wine.
The estate belongs to Jean-Philippe Janoueix Domaines. For the 2020 vintage, the grapes were sorted before vinification, fermented in concrete and stainless-steel vats, then aged for a short period on fine lees, with or without wood influence. Rather than presenting itself as a heavy or heavily oaked wine, its appeal lies in the Merlot fruit, the (…)Chateau Croix Mouton 2020 Magnum (1,5l)

Château Croix Mouton 2020 Magnum is a red Bordeaux Supérieur presented in the generous 1.5-litre format. The magnum is not a separate cuvée; it is the same wine in a larger bottle, giving the 2020 vintage a more generous table presence.
The wine comes from Château Croix-Mouton in Lugon, on Bordeaux's right bank, within the range of Jean-Philippe Janoueix. The 2020 blend is led almost entirely by Merlot, with a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. That Merlot dominance shapes the wine's personality: ripe, supple and fruit-driven, with structure that remains approachable.
The 2020 vintage was warm, with healthy, ripe grapes. The producer opted for relatively gentle extraction and shorter macerations than usual, aiming to keep the (…)Chateau Croix Mouton 2021

Chateau Croix Mouton 2021

Château Croix Mouton 2021 is a dry red Bordeaux Supérieur with a clear Merlot identity. The vintage is made from 98% Merlot with 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, from Bordeaux's right bank, close to the Dordogne and the Fronsadais area.
The producer describes 2021 as a challenging year, yet the wine is presented with colour, fruit and freshness. The vineyards are planted on clay and silt-rich soils with deep clay, in a landscape noted for its biodiversity. Careful vineyard work, controlled yields and a focus on ripeness all help shape the style of this vintage.
In the cellar, the approach was gentle: sorted grapes were moved into tank by gravity without crushing, then vinified in temperature-controlled vats with regular pigeage. Ageing took place partly in (…)Chateau Croix Mouton 2021 Magnum (1,5l)

Chateau Croix Mouton 2021 Magnum (1,5l)

Château Croix Mouton 2021 Magnum is a red Bordeaux Supérieur from France, bottled here in the generous 1.5 litre format. It comes from Château Croix-Mouton in Lugon, on L'île du Carney on Bordeaux's right bank. The 2021 blend is firmly Merlot-led: 98% Merlot with just 2% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The estate describes 2021 as a challenging vintage, and that gives this wine a particular profile. Rather than leaning into sheer ripeness or weight, it places the focus on colour, fruit and a fresh sense of tension. It remains clearly Bordeaux, but in a medium-bodied, fruit-driven register.
The grapes come from the estate's vineyards on clay-loam soils with deep clay layers along the Dordogne and the Fronsadais. After sorting, the fruit is moved (…)Chateau Croix Mouton 2022

Chateau Croix Mouton 2022
In stock
Château Croix Mouton 2022 is a red Bordeaux Supérieur from France with Merlot firmly at its centre. It comes from Château Croix-Mouton in Lugon-et-l'Île-du-Carnay, on the right-bank side of Bordeaux, where clay and loam soils near the Dordogne and the Fronsadais shape the setting of the wine. The result is recognisably Bordeaux, yet presented in a fruit-led, approachable style.
The 2022 blend is built around 80% Merlot, supported by other Bordeaux varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Following a particularly warm, dry summer, the estate used careful grape sorting and a vinification approach based on limited extraction and low temperature to preserve the fruit. That explains much of the wine's personality: (…)Chateau Croix Mouton Cuvee Joseph 2021 Limited Edition
