    Saktih PV Red 2016 is a Spanish red wine with a very particular Catalan identity. It comes from Castell d'Encús in Pallars Jussà, within the DO Costers del Segre, and PV refers to Petit Verdot. This is not a blend, but a 100% Petit Verdot made from the estate's own vineyards in the Pyrenees.

    The setting matters here. Castell d'Encús works at altitude, around 800 to 950 metres above sea level, on mainly calcareous loam soils of marine origin with little organic matter. The grapes are hand-harvested in small crates and carefully selected. Fermentation takes place entirely in open 12th-century stone gravity lagares, using wild yeasts.
