Chateau Monbousquet 2019 Blanc is an intriguing white Bordeaux from a property more often associated with red wines around Saint-Émilion. This dry Bordeaux Blanc comes from vineyards near Saint-Émilion and shows a different side of Monbousquet, with Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris playing the leading role in the blend.
The white vines are planted on gravel soils and the grapes are harvested and sorted by hand. Ageing on the lees in French oak barriques, with regular bâtonnage, gives the wine a broader texture and a more layered feel than a purely crisp white Bordeaux. Six months in barrel, including a proportion of new oak, add structure while keeping the Sauvignon freshness in focus.

Chateau Monbousquet 2020 Blanc is a dry white Bordeaux with a story that immediately makes it stand apart. Monbousquet is closely associated with the Saint-Émilion area, yet this wine comes from a small white planting of around one hectare on the La Gravière parcel, planted in the 1990s after Gérard Perse and oenologist Michel Rolland decided to introduce white grape varieties to this terroir.
For the 2020 vintage, the blend is sauvignon blanc and sauvignon gris. The grapes were harvested by hand, sorted, and pressed as whole bunches. The wine then spent six months maturing partly in vats, partly in new oak and partly in one-year-old barrels, with lees ageing and bâtonnage adding texture and aromatic depth.
