Château Pape Clément Rouge 2021 is the red grand vin of the estate in Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, and is classified as Grand Cru Classé de Graves. This is the 37.5 cl demi bottle, so the wine itself remains the same 2021 release, simply presented in a smaller format that suits moments when a full Bordeaux bottle is more than you need.The 2021 vintage has a cooler, more classical feel. The growing season brought a warm, wet winter, followed by a cool, rainy spring with frost and a cool, wet summer. In the wine, that background is reflected in a fresher and less heavily concentrated style than some warmer recent vintages, while still showing the structure expected from the estate. The blend for this year is 60% merlot and 40% cabernet sauvignon.
There is also a great deal of precision behind the bottle. The grapes were selected first in the vineyard, then by hand, with optical sorting of the berries afterwards. The wine was aged for 18 months, mainly in French oak barriques with a smaller part in foudres, giving it a serious frame without losing the more restrained character of the vintage.

About CH PAPE CLEMENT
Château Pape Clément is a historic French wine producer located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation in the Bordeaux region. The winery is named after Bertrand de Goth, who later became Pope Clément V, and it can be verified that he owned the vineyard in the early 14th century. Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest continuously operating wine estates in Bordeaux, with a history spanning more than seven centuries and a strong connection to the development of high-quality wines in the Graves. Today, the estate covers about 60 hectares, planted with typical Bordeaux grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and to a lesser extent Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for the red wines, as well as Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc for the white wines. In the course of the 20th century, Château Pape Clément underwent extensive renovation; since 1980 it has been managed by Bernard Magrez, a well-known name in the French wine world. The wines are known for their rich structure and complexity, with a pronounced aging potential. Thanks to a combination of historical significance and a consistent focus on quality, Château Pape Clément is highly valued by wine enthusiasts worldwide.
