Michele Chiarlo Faset Barbaresco 2020 Magnum is a Piedmont red wine with a strong sense of place. It comes from the Faset cru in the commune of Barbaresco and is made entirely from Nebbiolo grown on a parcel of about one hectare. The vineyard sits between 210 and 270 metres above sea level, facing southwest, on pale calcareous marl with sandy veins and a mineral composition noted for magnesium and manganese.Faset is part of Michele Chiarlo's cru selection and is made only in selected good vintages, in limited quantities. In magnum format, this Barbaresco has a different kind of presence: it feels made for the table, for a meal where the wine can slowly unfold and remain part of the conversation.
The 2020 growing season is described by the producer as regular and measured, with a mild, dry September and clear day-night temperature differences. These conditions supported slow, even tannin ripening. The grapes were hand-harvested, fermented on the skins in large oak vats, and the wine then matured for at least two years, including 18 months in large oak casks followed by further bottle ageing.

Michele Chiarlo is an Italian wine producer from Piemonte, founded in 1956 by Michele Chiarlo himself. The family company has been active since the beginning in one of the most highly regarded wine regions of Northern Italy, and has strongly focused on producing wines that reflect the character of the region. The vineyards of Michele Chiarlo are mainly located in the most famous Piemontese zones, including Barolo and Barbaresco for the red wines from the Nebbiolo grape, but also in regions such as Asti for Barbera and Moscato, among others. Quality and terroir are central in the winery's approach; a lot of attention is paid to sustainable viticultural practices and a careful selection of grapes. The assortment of Michele Chiarlo ranges from fresh, floral white wines to structured, complex red wines that are typical for Piemonte.
