Product info about Chateau Pape Clement Red 2020
Château Pape Clément Rouge 2020 is the red grand vin from Château Pape Clément in Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux. The estate's name is linked to Bertrand de Goth, later Pope Clement V, and the château records wine production on these grounds as far back as the thirteenth century.The 2020 vintage is built on an equal blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. That gives the wine a clear Bordeaux identity: depth of dark fruit, firm structure and the mineral, savoury edge associated here with Pessac-Léognan. The vines grow on clay-rich Pyrenean gravel deposits, with an average vine age of 28 years, and harvest took place between 10 and 30 September 2020.
The work behind the wine is notably detailed. Grapes were selected in the vineyard, then optically sorted and checked again on sorting tables. They moved by gravity into wooden vats, with cold pre-fermentation maceration, manual pigeage and a 30-day maceration. The wine then aged for 18 months in French oak, mainly in barriques.

About CH PAPE CLEMENT
Château Pape Clément is a historic French wine producer located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation in the Bordeaux region. The winery is named after Bertrand de Goth, who later became Pope Clément V, and it can be verified that he owned the vineyard in the early 14th century. Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest continuously operating wine estates in Bordeaux, with a history spanning more than seven centuries and a strong connection to the development of high-quality wines in the Graves. Today, the estate covers about 60 hectares, planted with typical Bordeaux grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and to a lesser extent Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for the red wines, as well as Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc for the white wines. In the course of the 20th century, Château Pape Clément underwent extensive renovation; since 1980 it has been managed by Bernard Magrez, a well-known name in the French wine world. The wines are known for their rich structure and complexity, with a pronounced aging potential. Thanks to a combination of historical significance and a consistent focus on quality, Château Pape Clément is highly valued by wine enthusiasts worldwide.
