Tenuta La Fuga Brunello di Montalcino 2017 in magnum is very much a wine of place: Montalcino, Sangiovese and a Tuscan estate that forms part of Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute. The fruit comes from Tenuta La Fuga's own vineyards southwest of Montalcino, on the historic Camigliano slope, around 350 metres above sea level.Made from 100% Sangiovese, it follows a measured Brunello path. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with around twenty days on the skins, before four years of ageing in 25 hl Slavonian oak casks and at least six further months in bottle. That long élevage underlines the wine's structured, concentrated style rather than pushing it towards simple youthful fruit.
