Lagrave Martillac White 2018 is a fine introduction to the white wines of Pessac-Léognan. It is the white second wine of Château Latour-Martillac, made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon selected from younger-vine parcels on the estate. That gives the wine a clear link to a classified Graves property, while keeping the style approachable and direct.For the 2018 vintage, the blend is 55% Sauvignon Blanc and 45% Sémillon. The grapes were harvested by hand, parcel by parcel, with fermentation in barriques. Seven months on the lees in French oak barrels, including a modest proportion of new oak, adds roundness while keeping the fresh profile of white Bordeaux in focus.
