Château Les Ormes De Pez 2019 is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Estèphe in the Médoc, a place where ripe fruit and firm structure naturally meet. The estate lies near the hamlet of Pez and is owned by the Cazes family, also behind Château Lynch-Bages. Its 40 hectares include gravelly plots as well as cooler clay-sand soils, giving room for both cabernet sauvignon and merlot to shape the wine.
The 2019 blend brings together merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and petit verdot. After a warm summer, the grapes were harvested by hand between 24 September and 4 October. Vinification followed a classical approach with controlled extraction, followed by 16 months in barriques, 45% of them new. Château Les Ormes de Pez 2021 is a red Bordeaux from Saint-Estèphe in the Médoc. The estate lies near the hamlet of Pez and traces its history back to the eighteenth century. Since the 1930s it has been in the hands of the Cazes family, also associated with Château Lynch-Bages. In the glass, this is very much in the Saint-Estèphe mould: structured, dark-fruited and carried by freshness.
The 2021 vintage was shaped by a demanding growing season. An early start was followed by cool conditions, rain during flowering and low yields. Better weather returned towards the end of September, allowing the grapes to gain the ripeness and concentration needed for the final blend.
