Château La Clotte 2021 is a dry red Bordeaux from Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, produced from a very small estate of around 4 hectares. Since 2014, La Clotte has been owned by the Vauthier family, known in the context of Château Ausone, and that background gives the wine a clear sense of scale: careful selection, close vineyard work and a focus on precision rather than volume.
The vineyards sit behind the southern walls of Saint-Émilion, on limestone plateaus and clay-limestone slopes. South-facing terraces give the vines a sheltered position, while the old vines, with an average age of around 57 years, add another layer to the story of this vintage. La Clotte is a very small estate of around 4 hectares in Saint-Émilion and forms part of Vignobles Vauthier, the family also behind Château Ausone. The vineyard lies close to the village on clay-limestone soils, with old vines described in several sources as averaging around fifty years or more. In the 2021 vintage, that background comes through in a style focused on freshness, perfume, red fruit and limestone tension rather than sheer weight.

Château La Clotte 2022 is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from a very small estate close to the southern entrance of Saint-Émilion. The vineyard covers around four hectares on south-facing limestone slopes with clay-limestone soils. That small scale is central to the wine's identity: this is a site-focused Bordeaux rather than a broad, generic Saint-Émilion.
The 2022 vintage is led by Merlot, with Cabernet Franc completing the blend. The vines average 57 years of age. Grapes are harvested by hand, carefully sorted and received by gravity, followed by traditional vinification in stainless steel vats. The wine then spends 18 months in French oak barrels. Since 2020, the estate has been in conversion to organic farming.
