Male characters and their favourite drinks

Male characters and their drinks, there are a lot of them In our earlier blog, we discussed the difference between men and women in terms of their drinking preferences. Besides the biological difference - men tend to like stronger flavours - our environment also plays a big role. From fictional heroes to real-life celebrities, there is always someone who has influenced your drinking preferences or piqued your curiosity about a particular drink. Do you already know the taste preferences of these celebrities?

Tyrion Lannister - Game of Thrones - Wine

Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones is known for his sharp wit, intellect and his constant companion: a chalice of wine. In the unforgiving world of Westeros, Tyrion finds comfort and companionship in wine as he enjoys the finer things in life, despite the constant dangers and intrigue around him.

"I drink and I know things"

Jack Sparrow - Pirates of the Caribbean - Rum

Captain Jack Sparrow, the eccentric and adventurous pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean, can almost always be seen with a bottle of rum within reach. Rum suits his free-spirited and nonchalant character perfectly. Jack's penchant for rum reflects his rebellious spirit and his desire for adventure on the high seas.

James Bond - Martini & Macallan

James Bond, the legendary British secret agent, is as famous for his preference for a well-mixed martini as he is for his adventurous missions. His signature order, "shaken, not stirred," has made the martini synonymous with sophistication and style.

In the later James Bond films, notably "Skyfall" and "Spectre", Bond is often seen with a glass of Macallan whisky. This shift from martinis to whisky reflects both a modernisation of the character and a recognition of the popularity of single malt whisky in contemporary culture. But drinks like Mount Gay rum, Bollinger champagne, Jim Beam whisky and Talisker are also beverages that you will see passing by more than once in the James Bond universe. 007 is therefore a man of the world.

Winston Churchill - whisky and cigars

Known for his iconic personality, Winston Churchill is often associated with his love of whisky and cigars. Churchill was a great lover of whisky, especially Scotch whisky. He was known to drink whisky daily, often early in the morning.

His favourite drink was a mix of Johnnie Walker Red Label with water and ice, which he sipped throughout the day. He considered it a way to keep himself sharp and relaxed, even during the hard times of World War II. Churchill's association with whisky and cigars has had a lasting impact on the culture.

Would you like to have a go at pairing a cigar and a whisky yourself? We teamed up with The Dalmore and Davidoff to find the ideal combos in this blog.

Frank Sinatra

Frank Sinatra had a fondness for Jack Daniel's whiskey, especially the Old No. 7 variant.

His brand loyalty was so great that he was even buried with a bottle of his beloved whiskey! Over time, Jack Daniel's even developed a special edition called"Sinatra Select" in honour of the singer. This whiskey was crafted with the idea of reflecting Sinatra's taste preferences and is considered a tribute to his legendary status and his love for Jack Daniel's.

Sinatra's association with Jack Daniel's has therefore contributed to the popularity of this whiskey brand, especially among fans of the singer and lovers of his music.

Besides the Sinatra Select, special releases of this classic whiskey can be found. Just think of the edition in a real guitar case or, more recently, the Jack Daniel's McLaren 2023 and Jack Daniel's McLaren 2024 releases.

Thomas Shelby

In"Peaky Blinders", Thomas Shelby is often depicted drinking whisky, specifically Bushmills whiskey. Bushmills is an Irish whiskey known for its smooth taste and rich history. For Shelby, whisky is not just a drink, but also a symbol of his status and self-confidence. He regularly drinks it during business meetings, strategic conversations and even personal moments, which reinforces his stoic and determined nature.

As a creative jack-of-all-trades in the marketing world, I also bring that imaginative flair to my drink choices. Whether on a night out, sunny vacation or social gathering with girlfriends, I'm always in my element with a refreshing cocktail in hand. Cocktails have stolen my heart because of the endless possibilities to experiment and explore. My favorite cocktail of the moment is the "Lazy Red Cheeks"! A delicious cocktail using vodka as a base. I love vodka because it mixes perfectly with non-alcoholic drinks. My favorite spirit? Rum!
