    La Violeta 2013 is an Argentine red wine from Vista Flores in Tunuyán, Mendoza, within the Uco Valley. Produced by Bodega Monteviejo, it is made entirely from Malbec grown in selected parcels at around 1,100 metres above sea level. This is a serious expression of the variety, shaped by site, concentration and time rather than simple ripeness alone.

    For La Violeta, Monteviejo selects parcels 5 and 9, considered by the estate to show the elegance, concentration and typical expression of Malbec particularly well. The vineyards stand on alluvial sandy-loam soils with calcareous deposits and a high proportion of stones. The 2013 growing season is described as favourable, with healthy grapes, good ripeness and strong development of colour, tannins and aroma.
