Miyagikyo Single Malt is made in Japan's Miyagi prefecture, in a valley where the Hirosegawa and Nikkagawa rivers meet. Masataka Taketsuru regarded this setting as an especially fitting place for single malt whisky, with pure water, fresh air and natural humidity shaping the distillery's environment.
The house style is built around a lighter, cleaner spirit. Upward-sloping lyne arms on the stills help give Miyagikyo its elegant and fruity direction. The malt used combines lightly peated and unpeated barley, though peat never takes over the whisky's personality.

Miyagikyo 10 Year Old returns here in a new version after a ten-year absence. That immediately gives this Japanese single malt a particular place: an age-stated release reinterpreted by the Nikka Whisky team, built around the elegant and lively style described in the product information.
Its roots are in the Sendai distillery, founded in 1969 by Masataka Taketsuru in a small village in Miyagi prefecture and renamed Miyagikyo in 2001. The distillery is equipped with eight large steam-heated pot stills, allowing slow and precise distillation. In the glass, the focus is not on smoke or weight, but on detail, fruit and a carefully shaped aromatic profile.
