Midleton Barry Crocket Legacy is best understood with one important distinction: this is not Midleton Very Rare, the well-known Midleton blend, but the prestigious single pot still created as a tribute to Barry Crocket. It carries the name of the Master Distiller himself, giving the whiskey a more personal place within the Midleton range.
The style is very much in line with what the supplied notes describe as Midleton's elegant, perfumed character. Maturation takes place exclusively in bourbon casks, bringing American oak, vanilla and structure to a whiskey that is also marked by fruit, including an exotic fruit impression. At 22 years old and bottled at 46%, it comes across as a mature and carefully composed Irish whiskey.
