Sake Takeno Kameno 72cl is a Japanese sake from Takeno in Kyotango, Kyoto prefecture. Although it may sometimes sit near wine in a webshop structure, this is not grape wine: it is made from rice, kji rice and water. At Drankenshop Broekmans, what makes this bottle especially engaging is the way it focuses on Kame no O, an old rice variety with a strong local story.
Takeno's Kamenoo Kurabu cuvée is built around that rice. Producer information links it to the reintroduction of Kame no O in the area, a project that began around 2000 when a small amount of seed rice became available to Takeno.
