Chateau Doisy Vedrines 2020 is a sweet white Bordeaux from Sauternes, closely linked to Barsac and its refined style of botrytised wines. The 2020 vintage is described less as a heavy, opulent Sauternes and more as a fresh, citrus-driven wine where sweetness is lifted by acidity.
The estate brings serious heritage to the bottle. Château Doisy-Védrines is a Deuxième Cru Classé from the 1855 Sauternes and Barsac classification, with vineyards on the clay-limestone rise of Haut-Barsac. That setting is reflected in the chalky, mineral nuances often mentioned in tasting descriptions of this vintage.

The estate is based in Barsac, on the Haut-Barsac terroir within the Sauternes appellation, and is one of the 1855 Deuxième Cru Classé wines of Sauternes. For the 2020 vintage, the blend is led by sémillon, with sauvignon blanc and a small proportion of muscadelle. Noble rot plays an important role here, bringing the concentration that defines the style.

The fruit comes from Haut-Barsac, where clay-limestone soils, fine gravel and the influence of the Ciron all play a role in the development of noble rot, the botrytis that gives this style its natural concentration.
